Thermal Insulation Material Smoldering Tester is a performance test device, using intelligent touch screen control system, convenient and fast, easy to operate, widely used in construction, transportation, light industry, electronics, energy and many other fields, is a very practical industrial test equipment.
This testing apparatus meticulously simulates conditions under which smoldering ignition might occur in thermal insulation materials. It typically involves exposing a specimen of the insulation to a standardized heat source, such as a heated wire or a small flame, under controlled airflow conditions. The tester monitors parameters like the time to ignition, the rate of smoldering spread, the maximum temperature reached, and the duration of smoldering. These measurements provide critical data on the material's propensity to smolder and its ability to self-extinguish.
Place the product specimen in the corresponding fixture of the test equipment, heat the specimen at the required temperature for a specified time, and record relevant data (such as the heating curve and the specimen heat release curve) to test and evaluate its smoldering performance.
1. Specimen Dimensions: (100 × 100 × 100) mm³;
2. If the insulation material (product) has a covering layer, the covering layer should be removed during specimen preparation;
3. If the insulation material (product) is less than 100 mm thick, the specimen should be prepared using a stacking method, and the temperature thermocouple should not be placed at the specimen's center joint.
Test Procedure
1. Place the insulation material (product) in the metal mesh basket holder;
2. Place the specimen center thermocouple in the center of the specimen;
3. Place the furnace temperature thermocouple in the center of the heating furnace;
4. Place the three-dimensional metal mesh basket holder containing the specimen in the heating furnace;
5. Press "Start" on the touch screen. The "Start" button will turn green to begin the test.
6. The "Stop" light illuminates, indicating the end of the test.
7. During the test, if the center temperature of the specimen exceeds 600°C, the test is terminated.
8. After the test cycle ends, the Save screen automatically pops up. Click the box next to the test name. A keyboard interface pops up to edit the name to be saved. Press OK to return to the Storage screen and click Save Data. Once saved, the data can be retrieved in the Historical Data screen.
9. If any problems occur during the test, press "Stop" to cancel the test without saving the data.
Regular Lubrication
Ensure that the sliding parts and drive system of the testing machine are lubricated regularly. Use an appropriate lubricant according to the manufacturer's recommendations. This helps reduce friction and improves instrument efficiency.
Electrical System Inspection
Regularly inspect the electrical system, including sensors, connectors, and the control panel. Ensure that all cable connections are tight and that sensors are functioning properly. Identify and correct electrical problems promptly to prevent equipment failure.
Calibration and Verification
Perform regular calibration and verification to ensure the accuracy of the testing machine's measurement results. Use standard specimens for calibration and verify instrument performance according to the requirements of your quality management system.
