The ASTM D635 45° Flammability Tester is a test apparatus for testing the flammability of a wide range of plastics, rubber and other combustible materials. It is widely used in the electronics, automotive, construction and furniture industries to ensure that the materials used in these industries comply with international safety standards.
The ASTM D635 45° Flammability Tester is a test apparatus for testing the combustibility of materials and works as follows.
Firstly, the sample to be tested is placed on a 45° inclined test bench and the bottom of the sample is lit. During the test, the sample is heated and begins to burn, producing flame and smoke. During the test, parameters such as burn start time, end time and burn length need to be recorded to assess the burning properties of the material.
The tester usually consists of a test chamber, gas supply system, igniter, scale, timer, etc. The test chamber is well sealed and collects the smoke and toxic substances produced and discharges them through the gas supply system. The igniter allows for rapid ignition of the sample and remains lit until the sample is completely burnt out or the test is complete.
ASTM D635 45° Flammability Tester is widely used in the plastics, rubber, construction and electronics industries to assess the performance of materials in relation to fire risk and to ensure compliance with international safety standards.
